Art Competition – Winner!!

Art Competition – Voices of Resistance!

We think that female genital mutilation (FGM) is everybody’s business and that young people’s voices and views are essential to ending FGM. We believe that resistance, change, perseverance and survival are essential elements in the FGM campaign. What do you think?

a 16 year old who is part of Women’s Health Family Support (WHFS); is our art competition winner.

Nadia says:

I am a feminist, who believes that every one of these women who suffer from these horrific and scarring moments are simply diamonds in the rough. They are humans who have value and worth and are much more than just living, breathing creatures. I feel that it is my duty as a steward to protect my sisters whom I share the blood of, the blood of a female. I strongly believe that this pain, torment, agony and affliction should be immediately put to a halt. The people of humanity should be educated that we as children of our ancestors, should make a difference to our world, to our community and to our brothers and sisters who face a fearful fate. Those should not fear as a brighter future is within their reach. However we as citizens of the world must take the first step in helping our neighbours and that no voice small nor large should be ignored when it comes to help. I believe that there is no measurement of help and that a good deed is a good deed. Even when you feel like you could have done more always remember that “If anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind”: Qur’an. We are humans, we have free will, YOU make a choice.
